experience the call of the sea, relax and get away from it all, by sailing over the horizon. Live aboard an ocean going cruising yacht for a week. Use ‘Milliways’ as your floating base to swim or snorkel, take the inflatable to explore those inaccessible hidden coves and beaches, or just relax with a book and a drink on one of the decks.

Channel Islands Cruise
Cruise among the Channel Islands calling in at the popular tourist spots or visiting the remote, unspoilt and beautiful smaller islands

Friday evening join Milliways, settle into your cabins and meet the skipper and crew over supper.

Saturday cruise cross channel to the peaceful island of Alderney. Arriving during the evening and dine on board while moored in Bray Harbour

Sunday relax with the sun and sand and spend the day exploring Alderney, the village, the unspoilt beaches and old fortifications

Monday catch the tide down the Alderney Race, and experience the exhilaration of surfing to St Peter Port, overnight in the harbour with a meal in the town

Tuesday visit the market early in the morning, to buy some fresh cooked crab, and then sail over to Sark, explore this unique and feudal island and anchor overnight

Wednesday remain around the St Peter Port area beaches or make an overnight visit to St Helier

Thursday catch the tide back to Alderney and moor in Bray Harbour overnight, or experience the unforgettable image of the sun set and sun rise during a night sail across to the Solent

Friday sail back to the Hamble base by late afternoon

West Country Cruise
Join Milliways on the Friday evening, settle into your cabins and meet the skipper and crew over supper.

Saturday out of the Solent through the Needles, and set course across Lyme Bay to Brixham, dine on board on arrival, Sunday morning explore this picturesque old fishing town and after lunch move on to Dartmouth and the village of Dittersham one of our favourite places eat fresh crab salad in the secluded pub

Monday on the tide move to Salcombe arriving during the early afternoon to spend a night in ‘the bag’. Explore the area in the dinghy and RIB

Tuesday on the tide sail the short distance round the Mew Stones to Plymouth and a night in the marina at the Barbican or at anchor the picture postcard setting of Cawsand Bay. Visit the magnificent aquarium and stroll on the Hoe. Dinner in the Barbican or Cawsand

Wednesday start the return journey, by visiting the beautiful steep wooded valley and village of Noss Mayo

Thursday early morning set off for Torquay arriving late afternoon in time to visit this holiday town

Friday cross Lyme Bay and back to the Lymington base in the Solent via the North Channel

Normandy ‘D Day’ Cruise
Join Milliways on the Friday evening, settle into your cabins and meet the skipper and crew over supper.

Saturday sail the length of the Solent and past the Nab Tower setting course for the port of Ouistram. Arrive at the sea lock late evening and wait overnight on the holding berth for the early morning opening.

Sunday once through the lock, motor up the ship canal to the medieval town of Caen, and moor in the centre of the town. Stroll around the vast farmer’s market which is held beside the old docks on Sunday morning. Buy local crepes, moule and cider for lunch, with wine, cheeses and fresh produce for the evening meal.

Monday motor down the canal stopping at the famous wartime

Pegasus Bridge for lunch in the first house to be liberated and visit the unique museum with its battle tableau. Continue out through the sea lock and along the coast to the town of Dives sur la Mare. Explore the medieval covered market building.

Tuesday set out on the tide from Dives along the coast and sail beside the giant Mulberry Harbours at Aramanche and on to Caronten where the marina stretches into the centre of the town. Dine at a typically French village Station Hotel.

Wednesday visit the D Day museum in the town and take a mini-bus tour to the fortifications and beach at Aramanche where you can stand beside a Mulberry, then on to the American airborne memorial on Omaha beach.

Thursday lock out of the harbour on the tide and sail through to the quiet island of Alderney spending the night in Bray Harbour, or experience the unique camaraderie and sense of achievement by completing a night passage back to the Solent.

Friday sail across the Channel past the Nab Tower and into the Solent arriving at Lymington during the evening.
